SHELAGH PYPER, B.SC.

PRINCIPAL, DIRECTOR OF Knowledge Exchange Partnerships

Shelagh is an environmental educator, science communicator and experienced project manager. She has a strong understanding of conservation, land management and ecology and over 15 years experience communicating science to the general public and managing large projects. She approaches each document and visual from an educational lens, striving to use plain language, captivating visuals and communication best practices to make concepts stick. She has worked with academic institutions, non-profits, government and industry to connect knowledge to practice and build trust and understanding across disciplines and sectors. She provides strategic leadership, creativity and an unwavering bravery and optimism to every project she works on.

Her passion is teaching, and she approaches all communications projects from an educational lens.  This makes her especially effective at considering the existing knowledge of the reader, what will motivate them to learn more, and how to make the information relevant to their experience.  She has managed all kinds of multi-media educational products as well as multi-sector partnerships. She is also a skilled facilitator and enjoys problem solving and public speaking.

Shelagh is a certified trainer of the HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development and a steering committee member for the Canadian Conservation and Land Management knowledge network.
